Artist and Teacher Gwendolyn Evans paints and teaches classes and workshops in her historic 1736 stone and clapboard studio-home beside a cascading waterfall in the charming village of Shawnee-on-Delaware, Pennsylvania. She has a master’s of arts in art education degree, with honors, from Rhode Island School of Design and a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Principia College.
Gwendolyn’s work, garnering numerous awards, has been shown in exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad since the 1960s. Though the majority of her awards are in watercolor, Gwendolyn works in a wide variety of mediaoil, acrylic, watercolor, pencil, soft pastel, mixed mediawith diverse themes and interests, including portraiture, landscape, nude figure, abstraction, poetry boxes, and conceptual pieces. In all her work Gwendolyn seeks to capture truth: the light and dark, both physically and psychologically, of a person, place, thing, idea, or feeling. As an enthusiastic teacher, she is known for thoroughly and untiringly sharing all that she knows.
This two and a half hour instructional DVD is a condensed course in drawing and painting for those, whether beginner or experienced artist, desiring to create successful drawings and watercolors. Gwendolyn simplifies the creative process, offering a 10-step sequential drawing procedure, limited-palette color mixing, materials information, both classic and innovative techniques, and knowledge developed over a lifetime of professional painting and teaching.
