Beginning in September, Shawnee Falls Studio is offering personalized services for those who dont live near by, but wish to study drawing/painting with Gwendolyn. "Along with my first loves of making art, teaching art, and writing, Ive enjoyed cooking, catering, and interior design--its all about the creative process!--so this evolution of including B&B for my students is natural!"
Begin your day overlooking the waterfall with a healthy, hearty home-cooked breakfast on the deck or in the 18th century hearth room of historic Shawnee Falls Studio, followed by a drawing/painting class from 10 to 1 with Gwendolyn, lunch on your own at the Shawnee Village General Store deli across the street, more art instruction from 2 to 4, perhaps followed by a walk to the Delaware River, dinner on your own at one of several near-by restaurants, a play at Shawnee Theatre across the street, and then snuggle beneath a down duvet in your own private Shawnee Falls Studio room, with a book from the SFS library--or paint all night long if you wish, the studios just a stairway away! Stay for a night, a weekend, or longer (10% discount for 3 days or more). Your art instruction will be designed to suit your particular needs and time.
Choose your favorite room from 3 lovely choices. Price includes room, breakfast, snack, 5 hours of art instruction in watercolor and drawing with Gwendolyn, (may include private sessions, classes or workshops depending on date of stay), plus freedom to work in the studio or on the property as many hours as you like. Based on arrival after 5 PM and departure next day by 5 PM.
The Provence Room, exquisitely decorated in rusty reds and golds, French toile, soft silk stripes, with a hand-painted armoire, antique desk, Gwendolyns paintings done in France, a queen bed with Horchow sheets, separate twin daybed, bathroom in the hall, sleeps two. Single student, $185; two students, $310.
The Waterfall Room, a cozy room with sounds of the waterfall (everyone says its the best sleeping room in the house) decorated in antique mustard and red milk-paint with hand-stenciled décor, watercolors by Gwendolyn, includes a double bed, a small desk, built-in dresser, and is next to the shared bathroom. Sleeps one or a very close couple. Single student, $175; two students, $300.
The Artists Atelier on the third floor, up original winding stairs, is an attic suite of two rooms--one with a double bed, the other with a twin, TV, sitting area, Gwendolyns paintings, and a private bath (tub and hand-held shower), which sleeps two very comfortably. Single student, $195; two students, $325.
NOTE: Shawnee Falls Studio includes Butterscotch, a cute, frequently-present-in-the-studio Calico cat, her usually-absent-and-sleeping-black-and-white brother, Oreo, two Bernese Mountain dogs, Zermatt (the dog with his own agenda who never met anyone--human or animal--he didnt love) and sweet Geneva (Mamas girl). If you dont like animals this isnt the art program for you! Oh, yes, occasionally you will encounter the artists husband, Bill--historian, wit, comedian, and guitar-picker, usually at Moravian Academy teaching what he calls "the most important subject of all: history." If you can take this menagerie, we welcome you!
